MAY 31 - Tolland High School

COMMITMENT
Carefully read through all information and dates below
The Toriography Showcase is a professional concert experience for our dancers, it is not a typical "recital". Everyone is expected to be prepared, on time, and performance-ready. During the Show our guests will remain seated to support all dancers, entry/exiting is only permitted between routines, and there is no screaming/shouting from the audience. As a community we will all do our part to make the Toriography Showcase an organized + enjoyable experience for all!
To participate in the Showcase dancers will commit to attending class regularly and on time. Students that arrive late more than twice and/or exceed 3 absences will not be able to participate. (This policy is strictly enforced)
Little Dancers - not all young students are ready to perform in a recital, they must be able to enter the classroom on their own, actively participate, and follow directions. They must also be ready to be backstage without you, carefully read "Backstage" below before committing.
PERFORM
Show
May 31 @ Tolland High School - 10:00am + 2:00pm
Assignments
Classes will be assigned to a Show time (Foundations already indicates on their page). Carefully note before committing:
• If your dancer is in multiple routines, they may be split between 2 shows
• We make every attempt to keep siblings together but it is not always possible
Stage Rehearsal
May 30 - Required for all participating dancers, scheduled in 10-15min slots to practice on stage (not a full day commitment) Click here for timeline!
Participation Fee
April 17 - $55.00/dancer ($100/fam max) includes Cast Tshirt, digital download of Show, and use of facility
Performance
By participating you are making a commitment for your dancer to attend the entire length of the Show (approx. 2 hours) For everyone's safety dancers will not be picked up early, regardless of the reason. Attempting to do so will prevent your family from participating in future events with Toriography.
Backstage
Dancers will be assigned to a Dressing Room and remain there until the Show is complete. They will be under the care of Parent Volunteers, Moms are not permitted to stay backstage. If your dancer cannot be without you during the Show, they are not ready to participate.
TICKETS
$25.00/ea - On sale May 9 @ 10:00am
It is assigned seating, we recommend organizing with family/friends ahead of time and have 1 person log in on this day to purchase. They sell quickly/do not wait and rest assured that all seats at the high school have a great view of the stage.
Important to note:
-
Dancers do not need to purchase a ticket.
-
Contact Dance Recital Ticketing directly with questions (Toriography does not faciliate purchases)
-
Every person regardless of age must purchase a seat, sitting in laps is not permitted per fire code.
-
We strongly recommend not bringing babies or very small children, the theater is dark with complete blackouts every 3-4 minutes. For many families this is their only performance of the year, screaming/crying affects the dancers on stage and the experience of those around you.
SHOW DAY
Arrival
On Showcase Day, 1 female parent will drop their dancer off in the Dressing Room area @ 9:30am for 1st Show and 1:30PM for the 2nd. Hair & makeup should already be complete with younger dancers in costume/1st costume. (We recommend wearing a button/zip up shirt over for backstage)
Dressing Room Areas
Ages 4-9 : Gym
Ages 10-12 : Choir Room
Ages 13+ : Band Room
>Auditorium opens 45min before the show, have your tickets ready on your phone
Pickup
At the completion of the Show, send 1 female parent to the dressing room to pick up your dancer. Note - dancers will not be picked up during the show regardless of the reason. If you attempt to leave or cause a scene, security will be notified + registration at Toriography will no longer be permitted.
Packing
Here are some extra things to pack with your dancer on Show Day:
-
Favorite doll/stuffed animal (great for little ones!)
-
Coloring books (crayons only), games, cards, etc.
-
Small snacks - water, pretzels, granola bar (dry items) *No colored drinks, pudding, applesauce, etc.
-
DO NOT send electronics or anything expensive
Parking
We strongly advise planning ahead for parking. We sell close to 800 tickets per Show and that many people will arrive at the same time. Tolland has space both in front of and behind the school, consider dropping young dancers and/or elderly guests at the door then parking.
